The Painted Skin

59

By phillippeengel

Every so often we paint our skin

trying to cover our ages in secrecy

those halcyon days will never come again

lost in the pores of undulating skin

what brings us youthfulness once again

remains an enigma deep within the abyss

where no one can retrieve his pilfered gold

but be fraught with debilitating powers

as a pernicious energy is pulling him back

to the after-world, to where no one knows,

but isn't beauty the apex of being alive

that gives you the elaborate and florid details

the opulent taste of being so young

having the flair to cover the ages with chemicals

forever, no matter how long the years are,

living spuriously, but happily

taking back the love when we are born

Beautiful and interesting. I have to ask-are you submitting these poems to the Patrons of the ARts contest that is going on this month? If not, you should-you could win a prize. :)
